We help clients get more from what already exists.

By assessing buildings before design begins, we identify what can be retained, reused or reconfigured, reducing unnecessary cost, minimising waste, and improving long-term outcomes.

Every project starts with a small number of critical decisions:
What can be retained, reused or extended?
Should the project retain, partially demolish, reconfigure or rebuild?
Where is new work necessary, and how can it be done better?

How is this different from working with an architect?Salvage Bureau works before design begins. We focus on early decisions about whether to retain, reuse or rebuild, and what each path means in terms of cost, complexity and outcome. In addition to pre-design services, we offer architectural services to a limited number of projects to pilot reuse. When should I engage Salvage Bureau?Ideally at the very beginning of a project, which could be before purchasing a property. Early advice can avoid unnecessary demolition, reduce cost and lead to more considered project outcomes.

Can I get a quote online?Absolutely. Fees depend on the scope and complexity of the project. Early-stage advice is typically structured as a fixed fee, providing clarity upfront. This reflects the value of informed decision-making before significant costs are committed.

Is reuse always the best option?No. Reuse is assessed alongside other options, including partial or full rebuild. In some cases, new construction may be the most appropriate outcome. Our role is to provide an objective assessment of what makes the most sense for your project.
