“Should we buy this?”
For buyers considering a home with potential, to understand what is realistically possible.
Salvage Bureau provides independent architectural advice for buyers considering homes they may want to renovate, adapt, extend or improve. We review the existing house, site and planning context to help you understand what you are really buying into.
This is not a concept design or building inspection. It is early advice to help you decide whether to proceed, pause, negotiate, investigate or walk away.
Useful for:
-
Homes described as having renovation, extension or uplift potential STCA (subject to council approval).
-
Older houses where it is unclear what should be kept, changed or avoided.
-
Properties where “subject to council approval” is doing a lot of work.
-
Buyers who want to improve a home without unnecessary demolition, cost, waste or carbon.
What we review:
-
The existing home and site.
-
Likely planning pathway.
-
Major constraints and risks.
-
What appears worth keeping.
-
What may be difficult, costly or risky to change.
-
What should be investigated before purchase or settlement.
What you receive
-
A concise advice note with key opportunities, risks and next steps.
-
Marked-up plans or diagrams where useful.
-
A recommendation on whether the property is suitable for a more detailed Before You Build: Home Potential Study.
